The Belgium international has been made to wait for his first team opportunities under Lampard this season, with the likes of Tammy Abraham holding down a regular spot in the starting line-up this term.
The 26-year-old has been impressing whenever called upon by Lampard from the bench this season and he has been staking his claim for a starting spot in the Chelsea FC line-up.
Batshuayi will be working on continuing to impress Lampard in the coming weeks and months as he bids to earn a regular spot in the starting line-up at Stamford Bridge.
And Chelsea FC boss Lampard has admitted that he has been thrilled by what he has seen from Batshuayi this season, both on and off the pitch.
Speaking at his pre-match news conference at Cobham before Saturday’s trip to Watford, Lampard said: “It was interesting to see not just the player – I kind of knew the quality Michy had and it’s always good to see that up close – but also the personality.
“Since early season, how he’s trained, his demeanour, his positivity, and quality when he’s come on, which is obviously the most important thing, have been top class.
“When Tammy is scoring regular goals and getting a firm foot in the team, that’s not easy. It’s the same for Oli [Giroud].
“Michy has shown all the right ways of handling that.
“He has been very good for us so far, and that positive spirit when you’re not playing regularly is not just important for him, cause that’s tough sometimes, but it’s important for the group. He deserves extra praise for that.”
Chelsea FC will return to Champions League action on Tuesday night when they host Ajax at Stamford Bridge.
They will then switch their attentions back to Premier League affairs and their home clash with Crystal Palace before the final international break of the year.
