‘I’d be surprised’: Michael Owen reveals his prediction for Chelsea FC v West Ham
Michael Owen looks ahead to Chelsea FC's clash with West Ham United in the Premier League on Saturday
Michael Owen is backing Chelsea FC to claim a home victory over West Ham United in their Premier League clash at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon, say he’d be “surprised” if the Hammers got anything from the game.
The Blues head into the game looking to try and get back to winning ways in the Premier League after they suffered a 2-1 loss to Manchester City away from home last weekend.
Frank Lampard’s men were widely praised for their performance against the defending champions, but they ended up slumping to a disappointing defeat at The Etihad.
Chelsea FC played out a 2-2 draw with Valencia in the Champions League on Wednesday night as they edged closer towards qualification to the last 16.
West Ham United head to Stamford Bridge looking to bounce back from their 3-2 loss to Tottenham Hotspur at the London Stadium last weekend.
And former Manchester United and Liverpool FC striker Owen is tipping the Blues to claim all three points on Saturday afternoon.
Writing in his column for BetVictor, Owen said: “West Ham have picked up just two points from the last 21 available and I would be surprised if Manuel Pellegrini’s side took anything from their London derby at Stamford Bridge.
“Frank Lampard’s side lost little in defeat at the Etihad from a high-quality game on Saturday evening, and I expect the Blues to bounce back against an Irons side who have conceded three times in their last three league games.
“The Blues were involved in an extraordinary game at Valencia on Wednesday and let’s hope the injury picked up by Tammy Abraham in the Mestalla is not as bad as it looked at first glance.”
Chelsea FC are currently in fourth place in the Premier League table as they look to try and finish in the top four this season.
The Blues have been in impressive form under Lampard and have won eight of their 13 Premier League games.
