Luis Garcia reacts to Fabinho’s injury in Liverpool FC v Napoli
Reds legend Luis Garcia took to Twitter to express his concern about Fabinho's injury in Liverpool FC's 1-1 draw with Napoli
Luis Garcia has admitted his fears about Fabinho’s injury in Liverpool FC’s 1-1 draw with Napoli in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
Liverpool FC failed to keep a clean sheet for the third successive Champions League game at Anfield when Alisson Becker conceded in the 19th minute.
Napoli’s prolific forward Dries Mertens finished from a tight angle past the Brazil international to edge the visitors into a narrow lead.
The Reds managed to equalise in the second half when Croatia international Dejan Lovren guided a header into the corner of the net.
Lovren’s goal was his first since he netted Liverpool FC’s winner in a 4-3 victory over Bundesliga outfit Borussia Dortmund back in 2016.
However, Fabinho’s injury in the first half was a major talking point for Liverpool FC supporters in an otherwise lacklustre European fixture.
The Brazil international appeared to suffer a knock to his ankle in the first half before he was replaced by Georginio Wijnaldum.
Fabinho has been ever present in the Liverpool FC team so far this season.
Former Reds forward Garcia admitted that he’s worried about Fabinho’s injury setback.
Garcia wrote on Twitter: “Not a great result so far but worries me more Fabinho’s injury. Key player for the team’s objectives. Get well soon Fab !! #YNWA #LIVNAP @LFC”
Liverpool FC are looking to reach their third successive Champions League final this season.
The Reds lost 3-1 to Real Madrid in Kiev back in 2017 after Loris Karius’ horror show.
Liverpool FC made amend a year later when the Merseyside outfit were 2-0 winners against Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League showpiece in Madrid.
Jurgen Klopp’s side are sitting at the top of the Premier League with an eight-point cushion following their 2-1 win at Crystal Palace last weekend.
Liverpool FC will host Brighton and Hove Albion in their next Premier League fixture at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.
