The Brazilian star has established himself as an indispensable member of Jurgen Klopp’s team following his assured performances in the middle of the park over the past 12 months or so.
Fabinho had to be patient before the 26-year-old seized his chance to secure a regular starting position in his favoured defensive midfielder role in the Reds team.
The former Real Madrid player has scored one goal and has made one assist in 12 appearances in the Premier League this season to help Liverpool FC build a lead at the top of the table.
Fabinho suffered a blow on Wednesday night when the Brazil international picked up an ankle injury in Liverpool FC’s 1-1 draw with Napoli in the Champions League at Anfield.
Speaking ahead of Liverpool FC’s stalemate with the Serie A side on Wednesday night, Carragher claimed that Fabinho is the best holding midfielder in Europe.
“In Fabinho, Liverpool have maybe the best player in Europe in that position,” Carragher told Viasport, as quoted by Metro.
“He’s that good. We’ve had Mascherano, Hamann and Alonso in that position, but I think Fabinho is the best. Liverpool have got someone really special.
“It’s not that unusual for players under Jurgen Klopp to take time to fit in. But now he’s one of the players you don’t rotate, alongside Alisson, Van Dijk, Salah and Mane.”
Fabinho scored Liverpool FC’s opening goal in a 3-1 victory over defending Premier League champions Manchester City at Anfield earlier this month.
Liverpool FC will take on Brighton and Hove Albion in their next Premier League fixture at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.
The Reds are sitting eight points clear at the top of the table.
