The England international’s defensive performance attracted some criticism following the top of the table clash despite Liverpool FC’s comfortable win against the defending champions.
Alexander-Arnold produced an impressive attacking display as the 21-year-old once again proved to be one of Liverpool FC’s greatest sources of opportunities with his incisive passing.
The versatile defender played his part in Mohamed Salah’s goal after Alexander-Arnold switched the play to Andy Robertson before the left-back’s cross found the Egypt international.
However, Alexander-Arnold endured a tough assignment against Manchester City forward Raheem Sterling as the Liverpool FC defender was tasked with defending his own goal more than usual.
The Liverpool FC youth graduate was caught out on a couple of occasions by Sterling in the Premier League clash to attract some criticism of the England prospect.
However, Spurs legend Lineker was quick to jump to the defence of Alexander-Arnold on Twitter.
Lineker wrote on the social media platform: “Anyone who makes negative noise about @trentaa98 doesn’t understand football. Wonderfully talented, confident, fearless and technically gifted footballer.”
Alexander-Arnold has scored one goal and has made three assists in the Premier League this season.
The Reds will take on Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park in their next Premier League game on Saturday 23 November.
