Liverpool FC and Manchester United are leading the race to sign Peterborough teenager Ricky-Jade Jones, according to a report in England.

The Daily Mail is reporting that the Premier League leaders are one of the clubs keeping a close eye on the 17-year-old following his excellent form for League One outfit Peterborough.

The same article states that Jones was being watched by talent spotters from Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Southampton and Burnley as he made his senior debut on Saturday.

According to the same story, Liverpool FC, Leicester City, Manchester City and Arsenal have also scouted the versatile youngster in the current campaign.

The Daily Mail go on to add that Spurs have already made a £2m approach for the 17-year-old that was rejected out of hand by Peterborough, who hope to start a bidding war.

Jones has recently signed a new contract with the League One side to secure his immediate future ahead of potential interest in January and next summer.

The Peterborough striker has scored one goal in two appearances in the Football League Trophy before Jones made his debut against Burton Albion in League One last weekend.

Jones became a professional when the forward signed a contract with the League One club back at the start of November.
