The Brazilian midfielder has been a regular fixture in the first team for the Reds this season after initially making a slow start to life at Anfield following his move from AS Monaco last summer.
Fabinho has started 11 of Liverpool FC’s 13 Premier League games so far this season and he played the full 90 minutes in the 2-1 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon.
The 26-year-old has underlined his status as an integral part of the Liverpool FC midfield in recent weeks.
Former Arsenal star Merson has admitted that he was not 100 per cent convinced by Fabinho when he first arrived but he now rates him as one of the best around in his position.
Speaking on Sky Sports News on Saturday before Liverpool FC’s clash with Crystal Palace, Merson said: “At first I wasn’t [convinced] when he came from Monaco.
“Now, I think he’s absolutely outstanding, I think he’s one of the first players on the team-sheet.”
Fabinho will be expecting to feature for Liverpool FC when the Reds return to Champions League action with a clash against Napoli on Wednesday night.
The Reds will then take on Brighton at Anfield in their next Premier League game next weekend as they look to preserve their unbeaten start.
