‘That’s the goal’: Liverpool FC midfielder opens up on title drive
Naby Keita opens up about Liverpool FC's desire to win the Premier League title this season
Naby Keita says that he and his Liverpool FC team-mates are focused on improving their performances as they look to win the Premier League title this season.
The Reds currently find themselves at the top of the Premier League table as they bid to try and challenge for the top flight crown again this term.
Liverpool FC came within a whisker of winning the title last term under Jurgen Klopp but they ended up being denied by Manchester City, who finished a point ahead of them in the table.
The Merseyside outfit have started the season very strongly and they are currently the favourites to lift the top-flight trophy next May.
However, Guinea midfielder Keita says that he and his Liverpool FC team-mates are taking nothing for granted as they bid to try and go one step further in the Premier League this season.
Speaking in an interview with Liverpool FC’s website before the trip to Aston Villa, Keita said: “You always have to remain focused.
“It’s that focus that brings the desire – and it’s that desire that helps you a lot in achieving your goals.
“It’s that momentum that motivates us, builds confidence and drives us to do even better. That’s the goal we all set ourselves as players, as a club and as the manager too.
“I believe we will remain focused and calm and continue to make progress.
“We know we have players who like to beat our own records. We know what we achieved last season, but we’re not going to just look back on that achievement with any sense of complacency – we’re going to try to do even better than last year.”
Liverpool FC will return to Champions League action on Tuesday night when they host Ajax in Europe’s elite club competition.
The Reds will then switch their attentions towards preparing for their crunch showdown with Manchester City in the Premier League next weekend.
