‘I don’t pay attention’: Liverpool FC star hits back at Guardiola
Sadio Mane insists that he's not paying attention to what Pep Guardiola says about him
Sadio Mane has insisted that he isn’t paying attention to what Pep Guardiola has been saying about him in the lead-up to Liverpool FC’s showdown with Manchester City on Sunday.
Guardiola made the headlines recently after he claimed that Mane “sometimes dives” in the lead-up to this weekend’s showdown at Anfield.
The Manchester City boss has since tried to backtrack on those comments, but Mane has now responded himself by insisting that he is no diver and that he is not paying attention to what Guardiola has been saying.
Speaking in an interview quoted by Metro, Mane said: “The only thing I can say I will be for sure ready for the team, to give everything possible, and to help my team [on Sunday].
“If it could be a penalty for sure I will ‘dive’ again. If the dive will give me a penalty then I will do it to get it back! Why not?
“But what Jurgen said is correct. I do not dive.
“I think it’s a bit clever from him [Guardiola] to get the attention of the referee but I will just play my football like I’m always doing.
“I don’t pay attention to what he’s saying because it’s part of football. Even though I saw him commenting about it, what he said, for me, I think it’s positive.”
Liverpool FC head into Sunday’s clash with Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table and six points ahead of the defending champions.
The Reds will be looking to pull nine points clear at the top of the table with victory, but Manchester City will be aiming to claim a win to cut Liverpool FC’s lead down to just three points.
Liverpool FC missed out on the title last season after finishing a single point behind Manchester City in the Premier League table.
