‘Nonsense’: Reporter rules out Liverpool FC signing 25-year-old winger
Athletic correspondent James Pearce dismisses the prospect of Liverpool FC signing Ryan Fraser from Bournemouth
Liverpool FC won’t be signing Bournemouth winger Ryan Fraser in January, according to The Athletic reporter James Pearce.
The Premier League leaders were linked with a surprise swoop to sign the Scotland international from their top-flight rivals in the January transfer window.
talkSPORT reported on Monday that the Champions League holders were at the front of the queue to sign Fraser when the transfer window reopens in little over two months.
According to the same story, Liverpool FC were in advanced talks with Fraser as Bournemouth looked to extract a transfer fee for the Scottish star rather than lose him for nothing in the summer.
However, The Athletic‘s Liverpool FC correspondent Pearce ruled out the possibility of Jurgen Klopp adding Fraser to his squad in the January transfer window.
Pearce wrote on Twitter: “Been told that the speculation about #LFC and Ryan Fraser is wide of the mark. Claims that they are in talks over a January move dismissed as ‘nonsense’. Liverpool have also recently been linked with Denis Zakaria from Gladbach but Klopp happy with his midfield options.”
Liverpool FC were 3-1 winners against defending Premier League champions Manchester City at Anfield last weekend courtesy of goals from Fabinho, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.
The Reds are eight points clear of Leicester City and Chelsea FC in the Premier League title race ahead of their trip to Crystal Palace on Saturday 23 November.
Liverpool FC haven’t won the Premier League title but have finished in second place in 2002, 2009, 2014 and 2018.
The Merseyside outfit won the Champions League crown last term thanks to a 2-0 win over Spurs in the Madrid final.
