Michael Owen is backing Liverpool FC to beat Napoli in a high-scoring game at Anfield in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

The Reds extended their unbeaten start to the Premier League season on Saturday afternoon thanks to a 2-1 victory at Crystal Palace.

Roberto Firmino netted an 85th-minute winner after Sadio Mane’s opener was cancelled out by Palace winger Wilfried Zaha at Selhurst Park.

Liverpool FC are sitting at the top of Champions League Group E and a point ahead of Serie A giants Napoli.

The Reds can secure their top spot as well as a place in the knockout stage with a win against the Naples outfit.

Jurgen Klopp’s side lost 2-0 to Napoli in the reverse fixture in their opening group-stage fixture of the 2019-20 campaign.

Former Liverpool FC striker Owen is backing the Champions League holders to secure three points against Napoli.

“Napoli are without a win in their last six in all competitions and currently sit seventh in Serie A,” Owen told BetVictor.

“Holders Liverpool will be through to the last 16 of the competition with a win and they will be looking for revenge having lost the reverse fixture in Italy, for the second successive season, on Matchday One.

“The Reds rode their luck at Selhurst Park on Saturday but they were excellent against City in their last home game, and I believe they will take all three points from what promises to be another wonderful Anfield occasion.”

The Reds have won eight of their last 12 fixtures against Italian opposition at Anfield, losing four games. However, Liverpool FC have won the last two games.

The Merseyside have only failed to progress from the Champions League group stage in three of their 12 appearances in the competition.

Liverpool FC have already claimed European silverware this term, beating Chelsea 5-4 on penalties after a 2-2 draw in the Uefa Super Cup in Istanbul.
