‘He’s a winner’: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer talks up Man United star
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer praises Marcos Rojo following his strong recent performances for Man United
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has heaped praise on Marcos Rojo following his strong recent performances for Manchester United.
The 29-year-old Argentina international made his eighth appearance of the season for the Red Devils on Thursday night as he helped Manchester United to keep a clean sheet in their 3-0 win over Partizan Belgrade in the Europa League clash at Old Trafford.
Rojo had been linked with a potential move away from Manchester United in the summer transfer window following the arrival of Harry Maguire at Old Trafford in August.
However, the Argentine stayed at Old Trafford and has been working hard to prove himself to Solskjaer this season.
Rojo has only featured twice in the Premier League this season but he has been consistently called upon in the cup competitions by Solskjaer.
And the Manchester United manager has been thrilled by Rojo’s performances in a Manchester United shirt this season.
Speaking in an interview with Manchester United’s website, Solskjaer said: “I thought he was excellent tonight.
“He’s been excellent since he started in pre-season. He’s played more than he, maybe, expected. That’s why he’s still here and he’s a top-quality footballer.
“He’s a winner, with a good mentality, he can pass and he can defend. It’s now about keeping him fit and he’s been fit for a long time. You can see his qualities.”
Rojo will be hoping to be involved when Manchester United return to Premier League action with a home clash against Brighton on Sunday afternoon.
The Red Devils have only won three of their first 11 games in the Premier League so far this season.
