Tahith Chong has moved to play down suggestions that he is stalling on a new contract at Manchester United.

The youngster’s current contract at Old Trafford is due to expire next summer and that means that he could potentially leave the club on a free transfer if he doesn’t sign a new deal.

According to Metro, Juventus have been linked with a move to sign the 19-year-old and he is apparently unlikely to stay at Old Trafford beyond next summer.

Chong has had his first team opportunities limited this season, with the teenager having only made two appearances in the Premier League for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men – and both from the bench.

However, the player himself has now spoken out about his future and has moved to play down suggestions that he is actively looking to leave Manchester United.

Chong is quoted as saying by Metro: It’s early right now. I’m still a player of Manchester United and the season is in full swing. My focus is on that.

“The contract will come naturally. I am now focusing on this season.”

Manchester United have struggled to find consistent form this season and they are currently in seventh place in the table and nine points adrift of the top four.

They have only won two games of their last five in the Premier League and they will return to top-flight action after the international break when they take on Sheffield United away from home.
