The Portuguese head coach has been getting used to life at the north London club after he was brought in as Mauricio Pochettino’s successor last week.
Mourinho has led Spurs to two wins from his opening two games in charge of the Lilywhites, with his side having wrapped up victories over West Ham United and Olympiakos.
Alderweireld’s situation at Tottenham has been a constant source of speculation in recent months because his current contract at the club is due to expire at the end of the season.
However, Spurs fans will be hoping that the defender’s latest comments about his new boss may suggest that he is open to extending his stay at the club.
Speaking in an interview with talkSPORT, Alderweireld said: “I feel lucky to work for him, so I’ll just do my best like I always do.”
Asked if he is enjoying life under new manager Mourinho, Alderweireld replied: “Yeah, I think we’re doing well.
“Of course we can improve, but the most important thing is getting points and getting up the table in the Premier League.
“And, like today, we had the first chance to qualify [for the Champions League last 16] and we did it, so that’s always positive.”
Tottenham will return to Premier League action on Saturday when they host Bournemouth in the top flight.
They will then prepare for a trip to Old Trafford and a clash against Manchester United on Wednesday night as Mourinho prepares to return to face his former club.
