Piers Morgan trolls Mesut Ozil after Arsenal’s 3-0 loss to Man City
Arsenal fan Piers Morgan wasn't impressed with Mesut Ozil's reaction to being substituted in Sunday's 3-0 loss to Man City
Piers Morgan didn’t waste time on Twitter trolling Mesut Ozil after the German midfielder was criticised for his reaction to being substituted during Arsenal’s 3-0 loss to Manchester City.
The defending Premier League champions made the trip to The Emirates in search of much-needed top-flight win to bounce back from their 2-1 loss to Manchester United in front of their home supporters.
Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne broke the deadlock in the second minute to give the visitors an early lead thanks to an instinctive finish past Bernd Leno into the roof of the net.
Raheem Sterling extended the Citizens’ lead to two goals in the 15th minute to all but end the Premier League clash as a contest given Arsenal’s woeful form over the past couple of months.
De Bruyne extinguished any faint hope of an Arsenal resurgence when the Belgian midfielder netted his second of the game five minutes before half-time.
Arsenal number 10 Ozil was replaced by Emile Smith Rowe in the 59th minute after the World Cup winner’s subdued performance in the Premier League clash.
The German midfielder appeared to kick a glove as he walked off the pitch following his substitution.
Outspoken Arsenal supporter Morgan took to Twitter to have his say on Ozil’s reaction.
Morgan wrote on the social media app: “Ozil’s best kick of the game – to his glove.”
Arsenal signed Ozil in a £42m deal from La Liga side Real Madrid in the 2013 summer transfer window.
Ozil has won three FA Cups during his time at Arsenal but the playmaker has been unable to inspire the Gunners to Premier League or Champions League glory.
