‘Sigh’: Piers Morgan reacts to Arsenal’s 2-1 loss to Brighton
Piers Morgan offers his take on Arsenal's disappointing 2-1 loss to Brighton and Hove Albion at The Emirates
Piers Morgan took to social media to express his dismay as Arsenal slumped to a disappointing 2-1 loss to Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League on Thursday night.
The Gunners headed into the clash looking to bounce back from the disappointment of their 2-2 draw with Norwich City last weekend but the visitors started brightly and took the lead in the 36th minute through Adam Webster.
Arsenal improved after the break and Alexandre Lacazette levelled for the home side from close range shortly after half-time.
David Luiz then thought he had put Arsenal ahead but his goal was rightly ruled out for offside by VAR.
Neal Maupay then fired the visitors back into the lead in the 80th minute from close range as the Seagulls went ahead once again.
The defeat is Freddie Ljungberg’s first since assuming temporary charge at The Emirates following Unai Emery’s sacking last month.
Celebrity Arsenal fan and former Daily Mirror editor Morgan was clearly not imporessed by what he was seeing as he took to Twitter during the game.
Tweeting immediately after Brighton’s opener, Morgan wrote: “Sigh. Half empty stadium & losing to a supposedly ‘small club’ (again). So tediously predictable.”
Then, after the visitors netted their second, he posted: “We’re sh*t.. and we know we are.”
The defeat leaves Arsenal in 10th place in the Premier League table and 10 points behind fourth-placed Chelsea FC.
The Gunners will aim to get back to winning ways in the top flight when they travel to West Ham United on Monday night.
