‘He has no fear’: Freddie Ljungberg salutes Arsenal starlet Gabriel Martinelli
Freddie Ljungberg heaps praise on Gabriel Martinelli after Arsenal's 3-1 win over West Ham United
Freddie Ljungberg singled out Gabriel Martinelli for special praise after the Brazilian helped to fire Arsenal to a 3-1 win over West Ham United on Monday night.
With Arsenal trailing 1-0 at the London Stadium, the 18-year-old fired home an excellent finish shortly after the break to trigger a comeback from the Gunners.
Goals from Nicolas Pepe and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang soon followed as Arsenal battled back to seal their first Premier League victory since the 1-0 win over Bournemouth at the start of October.
Martinelli has impressed whenever he’s been called upon this season, although his appearance on Monday night was his first ever start in the Premier League.
And speaking after the game, Arsenal interim boss Ljungberg revealed his delight at the way Martinelli performed at the London Stadium in Stratford.
Ljungberg is quoted a saying by the Daily Express: “Gabi is a fantastic player.
“He’s still very young but he has that energy about him and he goes and he goes.
“He has no fear and he just keeps on going.
“So it’s a pleasure to see him there on that pitch, and for him to get the success that he did today, it gives you a smile to your face.”
Martinelli has scored seven goals in all competitions for Arsenal so far this season.
Arsenal will return to Premier League action on Sunday afternoon when they host defending champions Manchester City at The Emirates.
The north London side are currently ninth in the Premier League table and seven points behind fourth-placed Chelsea FC heading into the hectic festive period in the English top flight.
