Gary Lineker took to social media to praise Bernd Leno for his performance in Arsenal’s 2-1 loss to Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League on Thursday night.

The Gunners suffered a disappointing home defeat by the Seagulls in what was Freddie Ljungberg’s first home game in temporary charge of the north London side.

The visitors started brightly and took the lead in the 36th minute through Adam Webster.

But Arsenal improved after half-time and Alexandre Lacazette levelled for the home side.

However, Brighton had the final say when Neal Maupay scored in the 80th minute to wrap up victory for the visitors.

Leno was called upon to make a number of top-class saves during the game, and although he was unable to prevent the Gunners from slipping to a fourth Premier League defeat of the season, his performance did not go unnoticed by Lineker.

The England legend tweeted during the game: “Germany do produce a plethora of decent keepers. Leno is another excellent goalie.”

Arsenal will now have to dust themselves down as they prepare for their trip across London to take on West Ham United in the Premier League at the London Stadium on Monday night.

The Gunners are currently 10th and 10 points behind fourth-placed Chelsea FC.
