Arsenal will hold talks with axed Napoli boss Carlo Ancelotti about taking over the reins at The Emirates, according to a report
Arsenal will hold talks with Carlo Ancelotti about becoming their next manager, according to a report in England.
The Evening Standard is reporting that the Gunners are due to hold discussions with the former AC Milan and Real Madrid boss as they continue their search to find a replacement for Unai Emery.
The same article states that Ancelotti was initially a candidate to replace Arsene Wenger in 2018 before the north London side ultimately decided to go with Unai Emery.
According to the same story, the Arsenal board has changed over the past 18 months but Ancelotti remains a popular option with the three-man committee charged with finding Emery’s successor.
The Evening Standard goes on add that Ancelotti was interested in the Arsenal role back in 2018 before he ultimately ended up taking over the reins of Serie A side Napoli.
The media outlet claim that Everton are also set to hold discussions with Ancelotti about replacing Marco Silva at Goodison Park.
Arsenal appointed former Sweden international Freddie Ljungberg as their caretaker manager last month after Emery’s dismissal.
Ljungberg led Arsenal to their first win on Monday night after a 3-1 victory over West Ham United at the London Stadium.
The Gunners finished in fifth spot in the Premier League table last term in Emery’s only full season in charge.
