‘Proper poacher’: Gary Lineker reacts to Tammy Abraham’s goal in Chelsea FC’s 2-0 win over Lille
BT Sport pundit Gary Lineker gives a glowing review of Tammy Abraham after Chelsea FC's 2-1 win over Lille
Gary Lineker hailed Tammy Abraham as a “proper poacher” after Chelsea FC beat Lille 2-1 at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night.
The Blues striker was in a rich vein of form heading into the Champions League clash following 11 goals in 15 games in the Premier League.
Abraham required a mere 19 minutes to break the deadlock when the English centre-forward finished from close range after Willian picked out the Chelsea FC number nine.
The 22-year-old’s goal was his second of the Champions League campaign to help the Blues take a big step towards qualification for the round of 16.
Cesar Azpilicueta doubled the west London outfit’s lead with a header before half-time to leave Chelsea FC in a commanding position.
However, former Blues striker Loic Remy halved the deficit with 15 minutes to go to offer Lille some faint hope of a comeback goal.
Ex-Spurs striker Lineker lavished praise on Abaraham for his clinical goal to get Chelsea FC on their way towards a big Champions League win.
Lineker wrote on Twitter: “Proper poacher’s goal from @tammyabraham relieves the pressure at Stamford Bridge.”
Abraham has been in prolific form for Chelsea FC since breaking into the first-team on a regular basis under Frank Lampard earlier this term.
The England striker has netted 13 goals in 21 games in all competitions so far this season to hit the ground running under Lampard.
The Blues lost 3-1 to Everton at Goodison Park last weekend to lose their grip on fourth place following a run of two defeats in three league games.
Chelsea FC are a mere five points ahead of fifth-placed Manchester United.
