Chelsea FC could use £3.5m clause to re-sign 22-year-old – report
Chelsea FC could use their buy-back option to land Jeremie Boga, according to reports
Chelsea FC could “scupper” FC Barcelona’s hopes of signing Jeremie Boga in January because the Premier League side still have a buy-back option for their former youngster, according to reports in Spain.
Spanish outlet Sport, as quoted by the Daily Mail, is reporting that the west London side could re-sign the 22-year-old attacking midfielder from Sassuolo for just £3.5m.
According to the same story, Chelsea FC inserted the clause in the deal when they sold Boga to the Serie A side in July 2018.
The article reports that Boga’s fine form for Sassuolo this season has attracted the interest of FC Barcelona – but their hopes of landing him next year could be hampered by Chelsea FC’s buy-back option.
Chelsea FC are now free to make signings in January after their transfer ban was overturned by the Court of Arbitration for Sport last week.
Boga has scored four goals and made one assist in 13 Serie A appearances so far this season and the Frenchman has been in solid form for the Italian side since his switch last year.
Despite having been born in France and playing for Les Bleus at youth level, Boga made the decision to represent Ivory Coast at senior level in 2017.
