Jamie Carragher took to Twitter to single out Mateo Kovacic for special praise for his performance during Chelsea FC’s 3-1 loss to Everton in the Premier League on Saturday.

The Blues slumped to a disappointing defeat by the Toffees at Goodison Park as their poor run of form left them with three losses from their last four games in the Premier League.

The Toffees produced an inspired performance for their interim manager Duncan Ferguson as they outplayed the Blues to claim all three points.

Kovacic scored Chelsea FC’s only goal of the game in the 52nd minute at Goodison Park with a fine low strike into the bottom corner from outside the box.

The Croatia international produced a solid display despite the disappointment of his side’s defeat at Goodison Park.

And former Liverpool FC defender Carragher took to Twitter to praise Kovacic for his display during the 3-1 loss.

Posting on Twitter towards the end of the game, Carragher said: “Kovacic has been brilliant for Chelsea! #EVECHE.”

Chelsea FC will return to Champions League action on Tuesday night when they take on Lille in front of their home fans.

They will then switch their attentions back towards the Premier League and their home clash against Bournemouth next weekend.
