Frank Lampard confirms that Chelsea FC defender Fikayo Tomori is sidelined with a minor hip problem
Frank Lampard has confirmed that Fikayo Tomori is sidelined with a minor hip problem and will be out of action “for a few days”.
The young English defender has been a regular fixture in the first team at Stamford Bridge so far this season and he has been earning lots of praise for his solid performances for the Blues.
Indeed, the 21-year-old has started 11 of Chelsea FC’s 16 games in the Premier League so far this term and has also featured four times in the Champions League.
Tomori sat out Chelsea FC’s clash with Lille in the Champions League on Tuesday night due to the problem and Lampard issued an update about the defender’s fitness levels in the build-up to that game.
Speaking at his pre-match news conference on Monday, Lampard said of Tomori: “He’s got a tiny strain around his hip area, and it’s been bothering him for a little bit, so he’s taken out of it for a few days.”
Chelsea FC will return to Premier League action on Saturday afternoon when they take on Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge.
They will then switch their attentions towards their reunion with Jose Mourinho when they travel to bitter local rivals Tottenham Hotspur on 22 December.
Chelsea FC are currently in fourth place in the Premier League after their 3-1 loss to Everton at the weekend.
