Ashley Cole tells Chelsea FC to sign ‘quality’ 22-year-old
Ashley Cole wants to see Chelsea FC seal a deal to sign Ben Chilwell from Leicester City
Ashley Cole has admitted that he would love to see Chelsea FC sign Ben Chilwell from Leicester City.
The Foxes defender has been earning lots of praise for his solid performances for Leicester City this season and Cole thinks he would be a good fit for Chelsea FC.
The Blues are now of course free to sign players in the January transfer window after their ban was overturned by the Court of Arbitration for Sport last week.
Chelsea FC are bound to be linked with a host of players in the coming weeks as Frank Lampard considers bolstering his squad ahead of the second half of the campaign.
Chilwell has been in good form for Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester City team this season and he has scored one goal and made three assists in the Premier League so far.
And former Chelsea FC defender Cole feels that Chilwell could be a great fit for the west London club.
Speaking in an interview quoted by Metro, Cole said: “I’d love to see him here. I think he’s a quality player.
“I’ve heard he’s a Chelsea fan so yes I’d like to see him here. It’s a big decision for the club but quality-wise for sure he is good enough.
“But that depends on if he wants to leave or if Leicester will sell him – that’s something the clubs would need to talk about.
“There’s always going to be a question mark going to a bigger club, but he’s doing really, really well in terms of how he is playing with Leicester.
“He’s obviously enjoying the way Brendan plays, and the system, he’s got that licence to attack.
“In terms of quality, for sure he has the quality to be here. It’s a big decision for the club but quality wise for sure he is good enough.
“I definitely think they need to add to the squad in terms of strength in depth really.
“But they also have to keep going and get these younger guys some more game time, get them more experienced.”
Chelsea FC will return to Premier League action on Saturday afternoon when they take on Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues are aiming to bounce back to winning ways after their 3-1 defeat by Everton last weekend.
