Kurt Zouma has admitted that he and his Chelsea FC team-mates are thrilled to be able to welcome back Antonio Rudiger to the Chelsea FC team.

The German defender has missed most of the current campaign due to a string of niggling injuries but he is now close to being back fully fit and available again.

Rudiger was named in the Chelsea FC squad for their Champions League clash against Lille on Tuesday night and he will be hoping to stake his claim for a regular spot in the first team in the coming weeks and months.

The likes of Fikayo Tomori have been impressing in Rudiger’s absence, but Zouma admits that it is always a boost to welcome a player of the Germany international’s quality back into their team.

Speaking at a news conference before the clash with Lille, Zouma said: “Rudiger is an important player for us.

“He’s a very experienced player and we know the qualities he has.

“It’s good to have him back, he has no pain and he’s feeling good so he can help us in the games like every player in the squad.”

Chelsea FC will take on Bournemouth in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon as they look to bounce back from their 3-1 defeat by Everton last time out.

They will then take on Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham away from home on 22 December.

Chelsea FC are in fourth place in the Premier League table as they seek Champions League qualification in Frank Lampard’s first campaign in charge at Stamford Bridge.
