Sky Sports pundit states his prediction for Chelsea FC v Lille
Sky Sports pundit Charlie Nicholas is backing Chelsea FC to ease to a comfortable win against Lille on Tuesday night
Charlie Nicholas is backing Chelsea FC to ease to a 2-0 victory over Lille in the Champions League on Tuesday night to book their place in the last-16 draw.
The Blues will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing performance in the Premier League last weekend after Chelsea FC suffered a surprise 3-1 loss to relegation candidates Everton at Goodison Park.
Chelsea FC’s good form has evaporated over the past couple of weeks following three defeats in their last four Premier League games, losing to Manchester City, West Ham United and Everton.
Frank Lampard’s side played out a 2-2 draw with Spanish side Valencia in their last Champions League fixture following a 4-4 stalemate with Ajax in their most recent European game at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues are in second position in the group standings level on points with Ajax but two points adrift of leaders Valencia.
Chelsea FC will be assured of a place in the last-16 draw if Lampard’s side beat the Ligue 1 side or if they draw and Valencia lose to Ajax.
Sky Sports pundit Nicholas is backing Chelsea FC to ease to a 2-0 win against Lille at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night.
“Chelsea just need a win really,” Nicholas told Sky Sports.
“I see this being a bit like the Liverpool match. You can end up forcing it and caught up in the emotions of it. I think the young heads will be OK though and I see Chelsea getting there, but I don’t see this happening until later on in the contest.”
Chelsea FC haven’t won the Champions League since Lampard was a player back in 2012.
