Sky Sports pundit states his prediction for Everton v Chelsea FC
Charlie Nicholas is backing Everton to claim a 2-1 win over Chelsea FC in the Premier League on Saturday
Charlie Nicholas is backing Everton to claim a 2-1 win over Chelsea FC in the Premier League on Saturday lunchtime.
The Toffees opted to sack their manager Marco Silva on Thursday after their defeat by Liverpool FC in the Merseyside derby at Anfield on Wednesday night.
Chelsea FC, meanwhile, returned to winning ways in the Premier League on Wednesday night when they claimed a 2-1 win over Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge.
That win left the Blues in fourth place in the Premier League table as they look to continue their decent form this season under Frank Lampard.
Everton are currently down in 18th place in the Premier League table having only won four of their opening 15 games this season.
However, former Arsenal star Nicholas is backing the home side to claim a 2-1 victory over Lampard’s men when they travel to Goodison Park on Saturday afternoon.
Writing in his column for Sky Sports, Nicholas said: “Marco Silva’s immediate replacement may be a temporary one, but it will be one that should give Everton a much-needed lift.
“I am not convinced by Chelsea’s defence, they looked uncomfortable at times against Aston Villa.
“Things haven’t gone Everton’s way under Silva, but they are a team of scrappers, and I see them battling their way to three points.”
Chelsea FC have been in good form this season and they are currently well in the race for a top-four finish in the top flight.
The Blues have won nine of their opening 15 Premier League games this term as Lampard looks to steer them towards Champions League qualification for next season.
