Harry Redknapp hints reported Chelsea FC target could leave Crystal Palace
Former Spurs boss Harry Redknapp reckons Chelsea FC target Wilfried Zaha could be on the move in January
Harry Redknapp says Crystal Palace “will do well” to keep Wilfried Zaha at Selhurst Park beyond the January transfer window.
The Ivory Coast international has been linked with a move to a Premier League club competing in Uefa competitions over the past 12 months or so.
A report on Friday claimed Chelsea FC director of football Marina Granovskaia had held talks with an intermediary about signing Zaha in the January transfer window.
The Blues had their transfer ban overturned on Friday to free up Frank Lampard to sign new players next month if the Chelsea FC manager wants to improve his squad.
Zaha has also been linked with a return to his former club Manchester United after his consistently impressive performance for Palace under Roy Hodgson in recent seasons.
Arsenal were thought to have been close to signing Zaha in the summer before the Gunners opted to spend a club-record fee on Lille winger Nicolas Pepe.
Former Spurs boss Redknapp believes Palace will find it hard to deter big clubs from snapping up Zaha in the summer.
“Wilfried Zaha has been the stand out performer for Palace and they will do well to keep the bigger clubs from capturing him this January,” Redknapp told BetVictor.
“For now, he can inspire the team to more success and keep them in the hunt for a top-six spot at the very least.”
Zaha has scored 37 times in 196 games for Palace since his return to the London side from Manchester United in 2014.
The Ivorian winger hit double figures for the first time in the Premier League last term after a return of 10 goals.
