‘Spot on’: Tony Pulis salutes Liverpool FC star after 3-0 win at Bournemouth
Tony Pulis singles out Naby Keita for special praise after the midfielder's fine display in Liverpool FC's 3-0 win at Bournemouth
Tony Pulis singled out Naby Keita for special praise as the midfielder helped to inspire Liverpool FC to a 3-0 win over Bournemouth in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
The Reds continued their incredible start to the season by picking up a 15th Premier League victory to maintain their position as the firm favourites to win the title this season.
The win leaves Liverpool FC 11 points clear of second-placed Leicester City, who are in action against Aston Villa on Sunday.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain opened the scoring for the visitors in the 35th minute when he fired home into the bottom left corner.
The Reds then went 2-0 up just before the break when Keita fired home after being set up by Mohamed Salah.
Keita then turned provider in the second half when he returned the favour and set up Salah, who fired home in the 54th minute to put the result beyond doubt.
The Guinea international produced a solid performance for the Reds and former Stoke City boss Pulis was clearly impressed by the midfielder’s display.
Speaking during BBC Radio 5 live‘s coverage of the game, Pulis said: “Jordan Henderson has been sitting back and Naby Keita has been allowed to go forwards and help with the attacks.
“He is playing really well today, there have been some really good passes. That pass to Mo Salah for the third goal was spot on. Smashing performance.
“When they make seven changes and come out and play like this – they are so strong.”
It was Keita’s first start of the Premier League season for the Reds, with the midfielder having been limited to just two substitute appearances in the top flight until this weekend.
The 24-year-old will be hoping to be involved again when Liverpool FC return to Champions League action on Tuesday night with a trip to RB Salzburg.
After the final whistle, Pulis added: “Liverpool were absolutely superb from the first minute to the last minute. They work so hard for each other when they do not have the ball.
“[Virgil] Van Dijk was a colossus at the back for them and they have so much quality.
“They were miles ahead of Bournemouth today. Technically they were outstanding.”
They will then take on Watford at home in their next Premier League game next Saturday lunchtime.
