‘Finally!’: Klopp reacts to Liverpool FC’s 3-0 win at Bournemouth
Jurgen Klopp reacts to Liverpool FC's clean sheet in their 3-0 win over Bournemouth in the Premier League
Jurgen Klopp could not hide his delight at seeing his side “finally” keep a clean sheet in their 3-0 win over Bournemouth on Saturday.
The Reds continued their march towards the Premier League title with a dominant victory at the Vitality Stadium to cement their place at the top of the table.
Goals from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita and Mohamed Salah wrapped up the three points for Klopp’s men and sealed a win which left them 11 points clear at the top of the table.
Liverpool FC have struggled to keep clean sheets this season and their last shut-out in the Premier League was back during the 1-0 win at Sheffield United on 28 September.
Indeed, Liverpool FC have only managed three clean sheets in the Premier League in total this season including Saturday’s win, so it was a welcome scoreline for Klopp and his men.
Speaking to BBC Sport after the game, Klopp said: “It was a professional performance, controlled, scoring wonderful goals. We didn’t want to make it exciting again so we wanted to control Bournemouth.
“The most used word in the dressing room at the moment is clean sheet – finally!
“Dejan Lovren was hopefully cramp but apart from that it was a perfect game. All round nearly perfect day.”
Klopp added: “It is not about being constantly exciting it is about doing the right stuff.
“There were not a lot of difficult moments to defend and that is good, important. Nearly a perfect day.”
Liverpool FC will now switch their attentions towards their trip to RB Salzburg in the Champions League on Tuesday night, before preparing for their home clash against Watford in the Premier League next Saturday afternoon.
The Reds have won 15 of their 16 Premier League games this season to leave them as the heavy favourites to win the title this term.
