Gary Lineker gives his verdict on whether Leicester City can catch Liverpool FC
Gary Lineker has his say on Leicester City's hopes of catching Liverpool FC in the title race
Gary Lineker has admitted that it looks unlikely that Leicester City will be able to catch Liverpool FC in the title race because the Reds are “so relentlessly good”.
The Foxes continued their fine form under Brendan Rodgers on Sunday when they sealed a 4-1 win against Aston Villa to keep themselves in second place in the table and eight points behind Jurgen Klopp’s leaders.
Manchester City suffered a 2-1 loss to Manchester United on Saturday to leave Pep Guardiola’s men a further six points behind Leicester.
Liverpool FC are the standout contenders to win the Premier League title this season after having claimed a stunning 15 wins from their opening 16 games in the top flight this season.
The Reds are currently the heavy favourites to go one step further than they did last term and win the trophy this time around.
Former Leicester City forward Lineker took to social media to offer his verdict on the Foxes’ title hopes after the victory against Aston Villa on Sunday.
Lineker wrote on Twitter: “If Liverpool weren’t so relentlessly good, I’d fancy that this Leicester team could actually win this league. What a time to be alive.”
Liverpool FC will return to Premier League action with a home clash against Watford on Saturday afternoon.
Before that, they will travel to RB Salzburg in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
