Liverpool FC owner outlines reasons for Jurgen Klopp’s new deal
Liverpool FC owner John W Henry says Jurgen Klopp has already delivered for the Merseyside outfit
Liverpool FC owner John W Henry says Jurgen Klopp is the best manager in the world after the German head coach signed a new long-term deal at Anfield.
Klopp has put pen to paper on a new contract to keep him at Liverpool FC until the end of the 2023-24 Premier League season.
The Reds boss has built a Liverpool FC team that has reached successive Champions League finals and challenged for the Premier League title in the last two campaigns.
The former Borussia Dortmund manager got his hands on his first piece of silverware at Liverpool FC last season after a 2-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League final.
Liverpool FC have built a substantial lead in the Premier League title race ahead of Brendan Rodgers and his Leicester City side.
Fenway Sports Group opted for Klopp as their new manager after the Reds parted company with Rodgers back in October 2015.
Now, the club’s owner Henry has praised Klopp for delivering for Liverpool FC already, describing the German as the best manager in the world.
“Back in 2015 we used the phrase ‘ideal fit’ when we appointed Jurgen,” Henry told Liverpool FC’s website.
“This continues to apply today and, if anything, the circumstances make it more pertinent. We consider him to be the best there is.
“If Liverpool Football Club were looking to appoint the most outstanding, elite manager for our current status today, Jürgen would be the first choice – no question.
“We believe this deal cements a relationship built on trust and mutual benefit: Jürgen has delivered for LFC and LFC has delivered for Jürgen.
“Both parties have come to the conclusion that by continuing to work together and build on the work of the last four years, the opportunity exists to maximise each other’s potential.”
Liverpool FC finished in second place in the Premier League table last season after losing just one game in the top-flight campaign.
