Website 90Min is reporting that the Reds are interested in the 16-year-old after Cherki made his Ligue 1 and Champions League debuts this season.
The same article states that the Premier League leaders are looking to unearth talented youngsters to ensure their future remains bright.
According to the same story, the Reds can expect to face competition from domestic rivals Manchester City and Manchester United.
The report goes on to add that La Liga giants Real Madrid are also keeping an eye on the Lyon wonderkid ahead of a potential move.
90Min go on to report Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas is braced to lose the 16-year-old despite having Cherki tied down to a deal that runs until 2022.
The story concludes that the Lyon prospect could even secure a move in January if the price is right.
Liverpool FC were in negotiations to sign Lyon playmaker Nabil Fekir 18 months ago ahead of the World Cup in Russia.
Fekir was thought to have even travelled to Melwood training ground before a deal fell through due to concerns about a persistent injury.
It remains to be seen whether Liverpool FC’s relationship with Lyon was affected by Fekir’s collapsed transfer.
