Mark Lawrenson is backing Liverpool FC to beat Watford comfortably at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.
The Reds will start the weekend eight points clear of second-placed Leicester City in the Premier League title race.
The Merseyside outfit have won their last seven Premier League games to build significant momentum in their pursuit of the top-flight crown.
Liverpool FC kept their first clean sheet in the Premier League in more than two months after Jurgen Klopp’s side were 3-0 winners at Bournemouth last time out.
The 18-time English champions have scored 13 times in their last three games against Watford to make the Reds clear favourites ahead of Saturday’s clash.
The Hornets are rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table and six points from safety after a woeful start to the 2019-20 season.
Former Liverpool FC defender Lawrenson is backing the Premier League leaders to secure a straightforward victory over Watford on Saturday.
“I am at Anfield for this game, which is the start of Liverpool’s busy schedule over the next couple weeks,” Lawrenson told BBC Sport.
“There are some positives from their trip to Qatar for the World Club Cup, though.
“In many respects, it is like a mid-season break for them, like the one Manchester United had when they took part in this competition in 1999-2000.
“And Liverpool’s first game, whoever it is against, is not going to be too challenging.
“So, while much has been made of how they are probably going to play two games out there, I would look at the fact they are all together as a squad, and will be spending most of their time doing warm-weather training. From that point of view, it is a win-win situation.
“Before they fly off, the most important thing for Liverpool is that they sign off with a victory on Saturday.
“I know they are facing Watford in Nigel Pearson’s first official game in charge of the Hornets, but I can only see a Reds win here.”
Liverpool FC qualified for the Champions League round of 16 on Tuesday night thanks to a 2-0 win over Red Bull Salzburg in Austria.
Klopp’s side finished at the top of their Champions League group ahead of Napoli.
Liverpool FC are bidding to reach the Champions League final for the third successive season.
The Reds finished in second place in the Premier League table last term.
