Harry Maguire pinpoints what’s changed at Man United recently
Harry Maguire explains why Man United are looking more threatening up front
Harry Maguire believes that Manchester United’s forwards have stepped their games up in the last few weeks.
The Red Devils claimed an impressive 2-1 victory at Manchester City on Saturday night to make it back to back wins in the Premier League following their victory over Spurs last time out.
Manchester United were widely praised for their performance as they kept the defending champions at bay and boosted their top-four bid with an important victory.
Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial both scored in the first half at The Etihad to set the Red Devils up for victory, before Nicolas Otamendi’s late strike set up a tense finale.
But the Red Devils held on to claim three important away points as they took another step towards a top-four finish.
Manchester United’s forwards have been in good form lately, with Rashford having scored four goals in his last four games for the Red Devils.
And their improved attacking displays have not gone unnoticed by summer signing Maguire.
Speaking in an interview quoted by the Manchester Evening News, Maguire said: “In that opening 30 minutes the front four were absolutely frightening.
“At the moment I feel like, over the last month or so, when I look at the forwards I know they’re going to score goals.
“At the start of the season, we didn’t really score more than one goal in a game but now it’s a few games on the spin where we’re back to scoring goals. They’re a big threat, top players and great talent.
“You need to look after your own results. The top four is in sight, but we’ll keep trying to improve.”
Manchester United will take on AZ Alkmaar in the Europa League on Thursday night at Old Trafford.
They will then host Everton at Old Trafford next Sunday in the Premier League.
