Gary Lineker has taken to social media to poke fun at Jose Mourinho after his Tottenham side suffered a 2-1 defeat by Manchester United in the Premier League at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.

Mourinho took his Spurs side to Old Trafford to take on his former team in the Premier League almost exactly a year after he was sacked as Red Devils boss.

Manchester United were in good form, however, and Marcus Rashford’s two goals ended up securing the three points for the home side, despite Dele Alli’s equaliser before half-time.

The defeat was Mourinho’s first as Tottenham boss, after he had led the Lilywhites to three straight wins following his appointment as Mauricio Pochettino’s successor last month.

And former Tottenham star Lineker took to social media to poke fun at Mourinho after watching his side succumb to their first Premier League defeat under the Portuguese coach.

Posting on Twitter after the final whistle, Lineker wrote: “Mourinho’s struggles at Old Trafford continue.”

Manchester United will now turn their attentions towards their crunch Premier League clash against Manchester City at The Etihad on Saturday night.

Spurs, meanwhile, will focus on their home Premier League game against Bournemouth in the top flight on Saturday afternoon.
