‘Really good’: Jose Mourinho praises Man United star after win over Tottenham
Jose Mourinho took the time to praise Marcus Rashford after his fine performance for Man United against Spurs
Jose Mourinho singled out Marcus Rashford for special praise after his two goals fired Manchester United to a 2-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League on Wednesday night.
Mourinho returned to Old Trafford as an opposition manager for the first time since being sacked by the Red Devils almost exactly a year ago.
Rashford fired Manchester United into an early lead in front of their home fans, but the Red Devils were pegged back before half-time when Dele Alli equalised for the visitors.
However, it was Rashford who ended up having the final say, with the England international netting from the penalty spot in the box 49th minute to seal the three points for the Red Devils.
Rashford was in electric form all night and the striker has now scored nine goals and made four assists in the Premier League this season.
And Mourinho has admitted that he was impressed by the forward’s performance against his Spurs side.
Asked if he’d seen Rashford play that well before, Mourinho told Amazon Prime, as quoted by Metro: “Yes I did. As I always told, from the left.
“Not as a nine, from the left. I knew it, I told the boys. I told him exactly the way he does things. But he was good, he was really good.”
Rashford will be hoping to start for Manchester United when the Red Devils return to Premier League action with a crunch clash against Manchester City at The Etihad on Saturday night.
