Manchester United sent head scout Marcel Bout to watch RB Salzburg striker Erling Haaland on Tuesday night, according to a report in England.
Sky Sports is reporting that the Manchester United scout was sat in the stands for Liverpool FC’s 2-0 victory over Austrian side RB Salzburg in the final round of Champions League group-stage fixtures.
The same article states that Bout was one of a large number of scouts in attendance to watch the 19-year-old take on Liverpool FC centre-halves Virgil van Dijk and Dejan Lovren.
According to the same story, Manchester United could face competition for the Norway international’s signature from the likes of European giants Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, FC Barcelona and Juventus.
Sky Sports goes on to add that RB Salzburg striker Haaland is considering a potential move to German side RB Leipzig to continue his association with the Red Bull group.
Manchester United are in the market to sign a striker after the Red Devils opted to sell Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez in the 2019 summer transfer window.
The Red Devils have struggled for goals in the Premier League so far this term, while Marcus Rashford has shouldered the pressure of leading Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s frontline.
Manchester United were 2-1 winners against defending champions Manchester City last weekend.
