‘He’s gone’: Pundit tells Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to sign James Maddison for Man United
Sky Sports pundit Danny Murphy believes Manchester United can lure James Maddison to Old Trafford
Leicester City will be powerless to stop James Maddison moving to Manchester United if the Red Devils make a big enough bid, according to Sky Sports pundit Danny Murphy.
The England international has been linked with a potential move to the 20-time English champions over the past year or so following his impressive form for Leicester.
Maddison has helped the Foxes launch a Premier League title challenge this season following a return of five goals and three assists in 15 appearances this term.
The 23-year-old is being talked up as one of England’s next big midfield prospects alongside the likes of Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish and Manchester City’s Ben Foden.
Manchester United have been without France star Paul Pogba since the end of September to leave Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with a lack of creativity in the middle of the park.
Former Liverpool FC and Spurs midfielder Murphy believes that Maddison would find it difficult to turn down Manchester United if the Red Devils come calling this January.
Murphy told Sky Sports: “You cannot tell me there’s a young English footballer at Leicester who will turn down United. Not gonna happen.
“If United come in for James Maddison, and pay enough, he’s gone.
“United are a big enough… I’m not a United fan, but they still have the draw.
“To play at Old Trafford, Theatre of Dreams, rather than the King Power Stadium, irrelevant of league position, he’s gone.”
Manchester United were 2-1 winners against Tottenham at Old Trafford before the Red Devils secured a 2-1 victory over defending champions Manchester City at The Etihad last weekend.
The Red Devils signed Harry Maguire, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Daniel James in the summer.
