Michael Owen is backing Manchester United to make it three wins in a row in the Premier League by beating Everton at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon.

The Red Devils head into the game looking to try and continue their mini-resurgence under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after their impressive back to back victories over Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City.

Those wins have helped the Red Devils to move up into fifth place in the Premier League table and just five points behind fourth-placed Chelsea FC heading into the hectic festive period in the top flight.

Manchester United are preparing to welcome Everton to Old Trafford as they get ready to face a Toffees side who claimed an impressive win over Chelsea FC under interim boss Duncan Ferguson last weekend.

However, former Liverpool FC and Manchester United striker Owen is fully expecting to see the Red Devils claim all three points in the clash at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Writing in his column for BetVictor, Owen said: “Everton gained a tremendous win against Chelsea at Goodison on Saturday, but they are, arguably, meeting United at the wrong time following tremendous league wins for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side against Spurs at Old Trafford midweek and City in the Manchester derby on Saturday.

“United will not to be able to break on Everton as easily as they did against the champions at the Etihad, but United played with a pace and energy that was a pleasure to watch and they ran out worthy winners.

“It promises to be a cracking game played in a derby atmosphere with opportunities at both ends, but I think United will keep the points.”

Manchester United will return to League Cup action on Wednesday night when they host Colchester United at Old Trafford in the quarter-finals.

They will then switch their attentions to their home clash against Watford in their final Premier League game before Christmas.
