Sky Sports pundit states his prediction for RB Salzburg v Liverpool FC
Sky Sports pundit Charlie Nicholas is backing Liverpool FC to beat RB Salzburg on Tuesday evening
Charlie Nicholas is backing Liverpool FC to reach the Champions League knockout stage despite anticipating a nervous night for the Reds at RB Salzburg on Tuesday evening.
Liverpool FC need a point against the Swiss side or Serie A giants Napoli to lose at home to Belgian outfit Genk to qualify for the next round of the Champions League.
The Reds will come up against one of Europe’s most exciting prospects Erling Braut Haaland for the second time in the Champions League this season.
The Norway international scored in RB Salzburg’s 4-3 loss to Champions League title holders Liverpool FC at Anfield earlier in the group stage.
The 19-year-old, who was on target at the weekend, has 28 goals in 21 club appearances in 2019-20 and is the joint top scorer in the Austrian Bundesliga with 16 goals.
Former Arsenal midfielder Nicholas is backing Liverpool FC to settle for a 2-2 draw with RB Salzburg in their Champions League meeting on Tuesday evening.
“If Red Bull Salzburg win, Liverpool are out. They will go for it – we saw that at Anfield. Liverpool had a comfortable afternoon at the weekend against Bournemouth,” Nicholas told Sky Sports.
“Naby Keita played and scored, and Jurgen Klopp has freshened it up the best he can. A draw will be enough for them, but it will be a very nervous night for Liverpool nevertheless.”
Haaland scored his fifth hat-trick of the season in a 3-0 win at Wolfsberg on 3 November.
The Norwegian striker has been linked with a big money move to the Premier League in the January transfer window following his incredible form.
Liverpool FC won the Champions League title last season thanks tom a 2-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the final.
