Gary Lineker sends message to Son Heung-min after Tottenham’s 5-0 win at Burnley
Gary Lineker takes to social media to salute Son Heung-min after his stunning goal for Tottenham at Burnley
Gary Lineker took to social media to pay tribute to Son Heung-min after he scored a brilliant solo goal in Tottenham Hotspur’s 5-0 win over Burnley in the Premier League on Saturday.
Spurs headed into the game looking to try and return to winning ways after they suffered a 2-1 defeat by Manchester United at Old Trafford last week.
Early goals from Harry Kane and Lucas Moura had put Spurs 2-0 up in front of their home fans, before Son ran almost the entire length of the pitch and fired home a superb third goal for the Lilywhites.
Kane added a fourth in the 54th minute, before Moussa Sissoko fired home in the 74th minute to add further gloss to the scoreline in north London.
Son’s fine solo effort is likely to go down as one of the goals of the season, and England legend Lineker was clearly impressed by what he had seen from the attacking midfielder.
Posting on Twitter after Son’s goal, Lineker wrote: “Wow. Son has just scored one of the greatest individual goals you’re ever likely to see. Goal of the season, me thinks.”
Lineker also took the time to praise striker Kane for his two goals.
Later in the game, he added in a separate tweet: “2 fabulous goals from @HKane. Blistering finishes.”
Tottenham have now won three of their opening four Premier League games since Jose Mourinho was appointed as Mauricio Pochettino’s successor last month.
Next up for Spurs is a trip to Bayern Munich in the Champions League group stage on Wednesday night.
