Mark Lawrenson states his prediction for Tottenham v Burnley
BBC Sport pundit Mark Lawrenson is tipping Tottenham Hotspur to secure a 2-0 win against Burnley on Saturday afternoon
Mark Lawrenson is backing Tottenham Hotspur to ease to a 2-0 win against Burnley at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Spurs suffered their first Premier League defeat under new manager Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.
Mourinho returned to Manchester United for the first time since his sacking 12 months ago.
Spurs had won three successive games in all competitions ahead of their trip to Old Trafford in mid-week.
However, Marcus Rashford’s double helped the Red Devils to secure a 2-1 victory over Spurs and their former manager.
Mourinho will be hoping to capitalise on home advantage on Saturday when Spurs welcome Burnley to north London.
Tottenham were 4-2 winners against Olympiakos before securing a 3-2 victory over Bournemouth in their last two home games.
Burnley suffered a chastening 5-1 loss to defending Premier League champions Manchester City at Turf Moor on Tuesday night.
Former Liverpool FC defender Lawrenson is backing Tottenham to secure a 2-0 victory over Burnley at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday.
“Burnley are another team to have hit the buffers a bit, suffering back-to-back home defeats against Crystal Palace and Manchester City,” Lawrenson told BBC Sport.
“Tottenham did not really get going at Old Trafford in midweek but I am expecting them to be far better this time. If so, they should win pretty comfortably.”
Tottenham finished in fourth spot in the Premier League table last season to secure a place in the Champions League for the fourth successive campaign.
Spurs lost 2-0 to Liverpool FC in the Champions League final last term after beating Borussia Dortmund, Manchester City and Ajax in the knockout stage.
