Mark Lawrenson states his prediction for Wolves v Tottenham
BBC Sport pundit Mark Lawrenson is tipping Tottenham to beat Wolves on Sunday afternoon
Mark Lawrenson is predicting that Tottenham Hotspur will beat Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Spurs slumped to a 3-1 loss to Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
The Lilywhites were 5-0 winners against Burnley at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last weekend to make an emphatic return to winning ways.
Spurs lost 2-1 to Manchester United in their most recent away fixture in the Premier League upon Jose Mourinho’s return to Old Trafford.
Wolves are currently a point ahead of Spurs in the race to secure a place in Europe next term.
Former Liverpool FC defender Lawrenson is backing Tottenham to secure a comfortable win against Wolves at Molineux Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
“Wolves are unbeaten in the Premier League since mid-September – 11 games ago – and it is clear they have got a bit of extra quality going right through their side,” Lawrenson told BBC Sport.
“Those runs cannot last forever though, and I am going to go for a Tottenham win.
“Spurs boss Jose Mourinho made loads of changes against Bayern Munich in midweek which will help ahead of this game.
“Mourinho’s side were poor when they lost at Old Trafford last week. I don’t think he will let them be as bad again at Molineux.”
Tottenham appointed Mourinho as their new manager in November after Spurs parted company with Mauricio Pochettino.
Mourinho has led Spurs to nine points in four games since the Portuguese coach’s appointment last term.
The former Chelsea FC boss steered Spurs into the Champions League knockout stage.
Tottenham have finished in the top four in the Premier League in the last four seasons.
Spurs lost 2-0 to Liverpool FC in the Champions League final in Madrid last season.
