Nabil Fekir is a French footballer who currently plays for Ligue 1 side Lyon.
Fekir made his first appearance for Lyon in a 2-0 win over Real Sociedad in the Champions League in August 2013.
Nabil was named captain of Lyon in August 2017 following Maxime Gonalons’ transfer to AS Roma.
Fekir was named the Ligue 1 young of the year in 2014-15 and the Lyon star got in the Ligue 1 team of the year in 2014-15 and 2015-16.
He made his debut in France’s 3-1 loss to Brazil at Stade de France on 26 March 2015.
Nabil was named in France’s World Cup squad for the major tournament in Russia following an impressive Ligue 1 campaign.

Nabil joined his hometown club Lyon at the age of 12 but the Ligue 1 side released Fekir due to concerns about his strength.
He returned to one of his former youth teams, FC Vaulx-en-Velin, for three years before Nabil went to Saint-Priest.
A host of top clubs scouted Fekir and the attacker was close to a move to AS Saint-Etienne.
However, Nabil held out for a return to Lyon in 2011, citing his desire to prove his boyhood club wrong for releasing him.
Fekir made his first Lyon appearance as a substitute in a 2-0 loss to La Liga side Real Sociedad in their Champions League playoff in August 2013.
Days later, Nabil featured in Ligue 1 for the first time after he completed 90 minutes of their 2-1 loss to Evian TG.
Fekir opened his account in a 4-1 win against Bastia in Ligue 1 to finish the 2013-14 campaign with one goal and two assists in 15 games in all competitions.
Fekir established himself as a regular in the Lyon team in the 2014-15 Ligue 1 season.
He opened his account for the season in a 2-1 win against AS Monaco in their second league fixture of the campaign.
Nabil netted two goals for the first time in a 4-0 victory over Lorient on 24 September 2014.
Fekir scored four goals in five games in December and January, finding the net against Bordeaux, Lens, Toulouse and Nantes.
He finished his second season as a senior player with an impressive 13 goals and nine assists to earn the Ligue 1 young player of the year award and to be named in the Ligue 1 team of the year.

Fekir continued his improvement with 10 goals and 13 assists in 47 games in all competitions in the 2016-17 season.

Nabil netted twice in a 3-2 win over defending Ligue 1 champions AS Monaco on 13 October. Five days later, Fekir scored in a 1-1 draw with Everton at Goodison Park in the Europa League.
He netted in six successive games in December and January, getting on the score sheet against Marseille, Toulouse, Nancy, Angers, Guingamp and Paris Saint-Germain.
Fekir scored in a 3-1 victory over La Liga side Villarreal in the Europa League knockout stage.
He finished the Ligue 1 side with career best figures of 18 goals and eight assists in 30 games.

Liverpool FC interest
Fekir was reported to be close to a move to Liverpool FC in June 2018 ahead of the World Cup.
The Merseyside outfit were reported to have agreed a £53m deal for the Lyon midfielder.
Indeed, Fekir was also thought to have settled on a contract worth in the region of £140,000 a week at Anfield.
Reports suggested that Fekir had selected his squad number and conducted interviews with Liverpool FC’s in-house television channel.
However, the deal collapsed due to Liverpool FC’s concerns about paying £53m for Fekir given his history of knee problems.
Fekir has been touted as a potential candidate to fill the void left by Philippe Coutinho at the Anfield outfit.
The Brazil international moved to La Liga side FC Barcelona in a £142m deal from Liverpool FC in the 2018 January transfer window.
Fekir made just one appearance for the France Under-21 international team.
He made his debut for the France national team with an appearance for the bench in a 3-1 loss to Brazil at the Stade de France on 26 March 2015.
Nabil scored his first France goal in a 4-3 loss to Belgium on 7 June 2015.

• Nabil’s best position is thought to be in a number 10 role behind the main striker. However, Fekir can play in a deeper role, while the attacker is left-footed.
• Like Gerrard, Fekir was handed the responsibility of captaining his hometown club at a young age. The Ligue 1 side made Nabil their captain despite the midfielder’s being just 24.
