Aaron Ramsey: Arsenal fans are yet to see the best of me
Aaron Ramsey believes Arsenal fans are yet to see the best of the Welsh midfielder, who is looking to improve this season
Aaron Ramsey has promised Arsenal fans there is more to come from him ahead of the new Premier League season.
The 21-year-old is set to return to pre-season training with the Gunners after helping Stuart Pearce’s Team GB side reach the quarter-finals of the Olympic football tournament, where they lost to South Korea on penalties.
Ramsey made an impressive start to his Arsenal career following his £5m move from Cardiff City in 2008 but has struggled to rediscover his top form after suffering a broken leg at Stoke City in 2010, ruling him out for 10 months.
“The best is yet to come from me,” Ramsey told the Daily Star. “I’m delighted with how it has gone – apart from my injury.
“I missed about 10 months, which stalled my progress, but I still think there is a lot more to come from me.
“I’m working hard and wanting to learn more every day to become the best player I can possibly be.”
Ramsey also offered his support to Arsenal team-mate Jack Wilshere, who has not featured for the north London club in over 12 months due ankle and knee injuries.
“I know what it’s like at that stage,” he added. “I understand what he’s going through but he has to be mentally strong – which he has been – and he will be back before he knows it, playing again and showing what he can do.”
