Adebayor, Lineker & more: Twitter reacts as Tottenham beat Stoke
Emmanuel Adebayor and Gary Lineker both tweet their thoughts after Tottenham beat Stoke City
Everton suffered a blow in their bid to secure fourth place after Southampton were 2-0 winners at St Mary’s.
Elsewhere, Fulham were held to a draw with Hull City, whilst Tottenham Hotspur, West Bromwich Albion and Swansea City were all winners.
Here is the best of the Twitter reaction from the professionals, past and present, in chronological order.
Tottenham striker Emmanuel Adebayor (@E_Adebayor) is ready for the clash at Stoke: “Hi guys, preparing for today’s game. Giving my all for the end of the season games. Let’s get another 3 points! #COYS”
Former Fulham fans favourite Brian McBride (@BMcBride20) celebrated prematurely with his fellow Cottagers fans: “YES!!!”
His next tweet was a little more refined: “Already a day full of emotions. Nothing short of two wins now needed.”
He wasn’t the only Cottager to have pie on his face come the full-time whistle, current player Alexander Kačaniklić (@AKacaniklic) got in just in time: “Fernandoooooooo”, gave us some nice ammunition.
Southampton’s right back Nathaniel Clyne (@Nathaniel_Clyne) was pleased with his sides 2-0 victory over Everton and the Man-of-the-match award to go with it: “Great result today 3 points and a clean sheet #dntmesswithus #motm f6nteofficial dejanlovren5 @luke_shaw3 http://instagram.com/p/nQmh-jAzOx/ ;”…. We won’t be messing with you Mr Clyne.
Match of the Day host Gary Lineker (@GaryLineker) complimented West Brom on their win today. He still managed to throw in a sly dig all the same: “Huge win for the Baggies as they finally hang on to a home lead”.
Ian Taylor (@IanTaylor7), Aston Villa ambassador and past player was none to pleased with his team’s performance today: “ANOTHER 4 shipped……. #unbelievable #AVFC”, presuming unbelievable is not a good thing.
Good old Stan Collymore (@StanCollymore) is normally good for a controversial tweet or three: “An absolute disgrace. Feel for the travelling Villa faithful today. You want 3 points, we’ll give them to you”. I’m guessing he’s not too happy with what’s going on at Villa at the moment either.
Was nice to see Gary Lineker (@GaryLineker) and Robbie Savage (@RobbieSavage8) giving Match of the Day a nice plug when Jonjo Shelvey was sent in: “We’ve just seen a genuine goal of the season contender, scored by Jonjo Shelvey. A belter. You’ll see it, of course, on #MOTD” and “What a goal from shelvey , better than rooneys ? @BBCMOTD tonight” respectively, is nothing sacred anymore???
