Emmanuel Adebayor has admitted he does not know when he will return to playing for Manchester City after the recent terror attacks which occurred at the Africa Cup of Nations.

The Togo team bus was subjected to 30 minutes of gunfire during their trip to Angola which resulted in the death of three members of their party.

On Wednesday, the Manchester City striker revealed that Togo’s press officer died in his arms. The trauma of the whole affair is said to have deeply affected the player and Roberto Mancini is in no rush to hurry the player back to Eastlands.

Adebayor will be absent from the City side for at least a couple of weeks and has been granted compassionate leave by his employers.

“It is very difficult because our press officer, who was my personal press officer, died in my hands,” said Adebayor.

“Until now that is the worst image I have had in my life. I always hear people say [you think] somebody is going to die in your hands and at the end that person survives. But I had the press officer in my hands to his last respiration and he passed away in my hands, so you can imagine it is very difficult.”

The striker also revealed that he has not been able to eat and is losing weight. The former Arsenal star added that playing on a football pitch would be the worst place for him to be right now. He wants to be ‘100%’ before making a return to Premier League football.

In his absence, City have won their last three league games and overtaken Tottenham Hotspur in their pursuit of Champions League football. Mancini’s side will take on Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday, meanwhile Adebayor will  remain  in Togo with his family.

The player has vowed to continue playing for his country in honour of those who lost their lives.
