Adrian has admitted that he has been settling in well to life at Liverpool FC after moving to Anfield on a free transfer in the summer.

The summer signing has been swept straight into the first team at Anfield after first-choice shot-stopper Alisson Becker suffered a calf injury to rule him out of action for a few weeks.

Adrian ended up being the hero in the Uefa Super Cup after he saved Tammy Abraham’s penalty in the shootout to hand Jurgen Klopp’s men the trophy.

The 32-year-old is set to continue in goal for the Reds as they prepare to host Arsenal in the Premier League at Anfield this weekend.

The former West Ham United goalkeeper was at fault for Danny Ings’ goal in the 2-1 win at Southampton in the top flight on Saturday.

However, the shot-stopper has admitted that he has been thrilled to be lining up behind some of the world’s best defenders.

Speaking in an interview with Liverpool FC’s website, Adrian said: “It’s really easy to play with them in front of you because, as you say, they were the best defenders in the Premier League [in 2018-19] and we have one of the best defenders in the world.

“I think, for me as a goalkeeper, they make easy decisions. Honestly, they defend everything like animals! They help me a lot.

“I played against them [the forwards] many times, so now I play with them and I’m enjoying how they play from behind.

“I’m really happy for them because they are doing really well, they have a great connection between them. They are good players individually, but they are good friends in the dressing room also and you can see that feeling on the pitch.”

Liverpool FC and Arsenal are the only two teams in the Premier League to have won both of their opening games in the top flight this season.

The Reds are currently top of the table by virtue of their superior goal difference.
