Morocco coach Rachid Taoussi insists his side will aim to take their chances against Cape Verde after a second stalemate of the day against Angola in Group A.

Angola’s Manucho, once of Manchester United, and Mounir El Hamdaoui, who had spells with Tottenham Hotspur and Derby County, both came close in a tight, scrappy affair.

But Taoussi believes his side did enough to win the game against a strong Angola side that improved after the break.

“It’s a positive result for us, and we’ll be trying to get a better one in our second outing and be sharper in front of goal,” said Taoussi.

“We virtually monopolised the first half. We created lots of chances but lacked success.

“We were not up against a phantom side – they have got strong strikers and woke up in the second half.

“We played after the game between South Africa and Cape Verde and that gave us motivation to win.”

Angola’s Uruguayan coach Gustavo Ferrin believes his side can cause an upset as others in the group could underestimate them.

Ferrin, who has worked with players such as Luis Suarez, also believes his side still have a chance to qualify.

“Before the tournament, we were the [second] weakest team in the group, according to Fifa’s rankings,” he said.

“Now we’ve all come away with 0-0 draws and we [have] the same chances as before.”
